Instructions for Self Hypnosis

It is really important to allow yourself to relax during hypnotherapy sessions. If you are having problems relaxing during the hypnotherapy sessions, here are some helpful tips to help you.

When you are under hypnosis you are not fully unconscious. If you imagine 10 steps, when you are wide awake and conscious, you are on step 10, when you are asleep and unconscious, you are step 1. During hypnosis, you will be around halfway down the steps (4-6) so you will aware of sounds around you, but you will feel extremely relaxed and comfortable. Often, my clients explain it like this 'I could move if I wanted to, but I don't want to, I could open my eyes if I wanted to, but I don't want to'.

When you are in this deep state of relaxation, your mind is open to suggestion, so all of the words I say are heard by the subconscious, to bring about positive change. Your conscious mind will drift in and out of listening to my words, that is perfectly fine, you don't have to consciously remember everything I have said.

Here are some tips to get the most out of your self hypnosis sessions

  • Use headphones or earphones. Bluetooth headbands with built in earphones are also very useful if you're listening before going to sleep, as they are comfortable to wear when lying down
  • Find somewhere nice and quiet, where you won't be disturbed. A dimly lit room is ideal
  • Avoid caffeinated drinks 2 hours prior to the session
  • Ensure you're wearing comfortable clothing, sitting in a comfortable chair or lying on a comfortable couch/bed
  • Visit the toilet before the session
  • Do not listen whilst driving, operating machinery, caring for young children

You can prepare with some guided meditation, a selection of guided meditation sessions are avialable in Meditation section of this app.

Ideally, you will need to listen to the audio daily for 7 days, you can then decide to listen less frequently as you see the results. I advise to only listen to one session a day.

If you would like some additional support, you can also book private 1-2-1 sessions with me at £100 per session here

Hypnosis Recordings are NOT meant to replace medical or psychological treatment or consultation. If you have a serious medical condition, please consult with your physician.

As individuals vary, so do results, and that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. Results are ultimately achieved through the client’s own personal efforts at applying these techniques over time for which each client must accept full responsibility.
